Approaches to Reducing Carbon Dioxide Emissions in the Built Environment in Qatar
Aim Objective

Aim Objective is to arrive at projections of greenhouse gas emissions of the built environment in Lusail City in Qatar under number of scenarios coupled with specific interventions that help to create national targets for the building sector.

Results

Making projections of CO2 emissions in new cities in Qatar by 2020 using GSAS standards The projected CO2 emission reduction is reported and compared with the international standards.

Major Impact Expected
  • Quantification of CO2 emissions reductions achieved by implementing GSAS energy efficiency measures which can lower the emissions associated with buildings sector by more than 30% compared to current.
  • Updating GSAS energy calculators based on the results of the modeling conducted for Lusail City building stock.
  • Sharing outcomes with State of Kuwait to support the implementation of GSAS tools to help reduce CO2 emissions in the building sector in Kuwait.
